RTL Deutschland continues to develop its charitable activities

RTL Deutschland plans to further develop its charitable activities. In future, reports on the activities of “Stiftung RTL – Wir helfen Kindern” will be more frequent and will be cross-media networked. New formats with charity manager Wolfram Kons are planned. For this purpose, he will take time off to present the daily morning newspaper “Guten Morgen Deutschland”.

In a socially and globally difficult period, RTL plans to sustainably strengthen its charitable commitment. The expansion of the activities bundled in the DZI-certified “Stiftung RTL – Wir helfen Kindern” will be the responsibility of the long-time head of the charity and RTL presenter Wolfram Kons. In addition to the annual “RTL-Spendenmarathon”, which the journalist manages and animates, Kons will also regularly report on the growing importance of sustainable social commitment and the activities of the RTL Foundation during the year, cross-networking -media, on all RTL Deutschland platforms. Wolfram Kons, who is also chairman of Stiftung RTL, will take time off to present the daily morning newspaper “Guten Morgen Deutschland” for this purpose. He will continue to host the “RTL-Spendenmarathon” and present the art magazine “NTV Inside Art”.

“We are clearly expanding our social commitment at RTL Deutschland and will orchestrate this more and more during the year in all our media genres”, said Stephan Schäfer, CEO of “Stiftung RTL – Wir helfen Kindern” and co- CEO of RTL Deutschland. “I am happy that Wolfram Kons is taking overall strategic responsibility. He is the driving force and the face of Stiftung RTL and our charitable activities. We can still see the proof of this at this time with the war in Ukraine.” With 31 years as a morning host, Wolfram Kons holds a unique record on German television. As presenter and inventor of the art exhibition “NTV Inside Art”, Kons celebrates its tenth anniversary this year and will continue to accompany stars of the art scene, including Gerhard Richter and Julian Schnabel, up close and personal with the camera.

A total of 222 million euros raised thanks to the “RTL-Spendenmarathon”

“Helping children in Germany and around the world has always been a matter of heart for me,” said Wolfram Kons. “It makes me proud that we are expanding this commitment even further. Our efforts for children in need throughout the year go well beyond the 24 hours of the annual ‘RTL-Spendenmarathon’. My greatest hope is that we we will be able to help even more children, who are in urgent need of support, in the future. Never before has solidarity and cohesion been so important as today. In Ukraine alone, it is a matter of life or death for nearly 7.5 million children and their families. At the same time, I will say goodbye to the reception of our ‘RTL-Morgenmagazin’. I am deeply grateful for over 30 rewarding and exciting years with a fantastic team of early risers. And I’m already looking forward to the new expanded tasks and, to be honest, also being able to sleep a little longer.” Wolfram Kons has been involved in the cause of children in need since 1996 and has received numerous awards, including the Federal Cross of Merit and Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia He is responsible for RTL’s charitable work and vice-president of the “Stiftung RTL – Wir helfen Kindern”. , he will host the “RTL-Spendenmarathon”, the longest running charity broadcast on German television for the 27th time. In 2021, a new record was set with donations amounting to 23.4 million euros. In total , Stiftung RTL has raised more than 222 million euros and sustainably supported hundreds of aid projects for children.Last week, a large-scale relief campaign for Ukraine was launched.
