Chesterfield Police Activities League hosts first 5k run

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) – The Chesterfield Police Activities League (CPAL) held its first-ever 5K race on Sunday. The event was held to raise funds for the CPAL program.

“The weather has been perfect,” said Capt. Mark Haynes of the Chesterfield County Police Department. “It will be a chance to come out with the Chesterfield PAL program. It is an opportunity for the police department and county employees to connect with young people in the county and have a relationship.

Participants were encouraged to run, walk or jog as a team or individually. The route took runners through the Chesterfield County Courts complex and county parks.

The event took place at the Public Safety Training Center and the race started at 8 a.m. Registration opened at 6:30 a.m. for anyone in the community wishing to participate.

Awards were given to the top three men and women overall, the top men and women Masters (riders 40 and over) and the top three in the men’s and women’s age groups. A prize was also awarded to the team that won first place.
