BROOME COUNTY – The number of new coronavirus cases could be down 16% in Broome County, County Director Jason Garnar said, now is not the time to be complacent.

Garnar says that if you have any worries about sitting outside and handing out candy on Halloween, the safest thing to do is set up a small table outside with candy on it for the kids to grab. themselves.

He suggests that everyone travel in small groups and wear a COVID mask even if your Halloween costume has a mask that fits on your head.

Garnar says if you’re not feeling well stay home and there will be plenty of discounted candy sold in stores after this weekend.

“Big Halloween parties are still not a good idea this year, we see a lot of home broadcasting this way. If you are having some sort of meeting, you should keep it small and between members of the same household and preferably stay outside when you have these small meetings if you can, ”says Garnar.

Booster shots are also available for anyone at high risk or aged 65 and over.

Garnar also says that home testing kits are used more and more and if your test is positive there is a way to register it online now.

Go to the county’s COVID-19 resource page and find the “Report COVID-19 home test” tab.
