Truck Day at the Lutz Museum, 247 South Main St., 12-3 p.m. Sound emergency horns, sirens and flashing lights. Advance reservations are required to enter the museum, but admission is free.

• Sunday, June 12: Cheney Homestead Open House, 106 Hartford Road, 1 to 4 p.m.

The South Windsor Strawberry Festival will take place on Saturday, June 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Nevers Park, Chief Ryan Way, South Windsor, rain or shine.

There will be local food and craft vendors and strawberry shortcakes.

This year, in conjunction with the South Windsor Police Service, there are new parking rules:

• Chief Ryan Way will be closed to all traffic except residents living in that area.

• Handicap accessible parking will be in the lower lot at Chief Ryan Way and Nevers Road; parking is limited.

• Visitor parking will be at the Community Center on Nevers Road, South Windsor High School and the Farmers Market. A shuttle service will be available; parking signs will be prominently displayed.

Collection for the troops

Support Our Troops Connecticut will be holding a drive for items to support overseas troops on Sunday, June 12, from noon to 2 p.m., at Hillstown Grange, 617 Hills St., East Hartford.

Items needed and appreciated in hot climate theaters include: insect repellent (malaria is a real threat to service personnel), personal hygiene products, single-serve snacks, electrolyte drink packets, etc.

Please do not give aerosol products.

Volunteers are needed on Sundays to sort items, pack boxes, and draw letters and cards to add to boxes. It costs about $900 to ship the packages, and donations are needed to help defray the costs. Checks should be made payable to SOS Connecticut and mailed to: SOS Connecticut, c/o Frank Forrest, 165 Maple St., East Hartford, CT 06118.

Silk City Board Games Group

The Silk City adult board game group will meet on Saturday June 11 from 12-4.30pm at the Manchester Public Library. Volunteers will teach a variety of games; it is not necessary to bring your own.
