Fun Halloween Activities, Treats Around Austin For People Of All Ages
AUSTIN, Texas – There is so much to do on Halloween and especially this year because the holidays fall on a weekend.
Several places in and around Austin have special events, like puppy costume contests and adult treats, or have treats and specials, so there’s something for everyone.
Below are highlights of some of the things you can check out.
COSMIC HALLOWEEN AT COSMIC COFFEE + BEER GARDEN
The event takes place on October 28 and is hosted by DJ Mel from Austin. The festivities will begin at 4 p.m., followed by a costume contest for dogs and their owners at 6.30 p.m.
Entrants will have the chance to win special Cosmic, Shakey Graves and Roughhouse prizes.
From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Good Party ATX will be on hand to do free dog tarot card readings with donations destined for the Central Texas Food Bank.
Cosmic will also celebrate the release of Roughhouse Brewing Imperial Stout brewed in collaboration with the Shakey Graves Group. The Shakey Graves stout is rich and full-bodied with heavy chocolate notes, hints of caramel and candied figs, and at 9.3% alcohol in alcohol, it is well balanced with roasted Cosmic coffee on the finish. Sales at the event will benefit the Central Texas Food Bank. The first 50 people to purchase a can of Shakey Graves Stout will receive a free personalized YETI colster.
In addition to the festivities, patrons can snap photos in their annual fall pumpkin patch and sip their updated fall coffee and cocktail menu.
UGLY DOG COMPETITION IN DOWNTOWN OF JO
This is the 4th annual competition for all those dogs who can look a bit “grated”. You can submit your dog to one of three categories: ugliest dog, best costume, and best in show. 100% of each $ 10 entry fee goes to the Austin Humane Society and submissions can be made online prior to the in-person judgment on October 31st.

SOUTHERN CONGRESS CRAWL CANDY & COCKTAIL
It’ll just be treats and no gimmicks, as the venues along South Congress Avenue are part of a Halloween Night Drenched Hike presented by MML Hospitality and Bunkhouse.
The event begins at 4 p.m. and kids receive candy while adults receive exclusive cocktails for purchase served in collectable mugs.

HALLOWEEN AT THE ICE MUSEUM
The Ice Cream Museum is celebrating Halloween with limited-time offers October 28-31. Its 12 magical installations will transform into a haunted town with ‘spooky’ frozen treats that will be offered throughout the experience.

The Ice Cream Museum is located at 11506 Century Oaks Terrace # 128 at The Domain and its hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
GHOST CITY TOURS AND HOTEL DRISKILL
For history buffs who wish to step back in time and immerse themselves in the haunted stories of one of Austin’s most ‘spirited’ places, guests can now book the Ghost City Tours package at the legendary downtown hotel -city.
Throughout the tour, participants will hear stories like the story of Jesse Driskill (who built the hotel in 1886) and who apparently still frequents the hotel today. Driskill always makes his presence known by the smell of his cigar smoke and there have been sightings of revelers in elaborate ball gowns and tuxedos exiting hotel elevators – on nights when there are no had a gala on the property.
The historic hotel, which just unveiled its 14-suite renovation by architect Clayton Korte last month, is offering this package for the season leading up to Halloween. At the Austin, Schertz, New Braunfels and San Marcos locations on Saturday, October 30, families can experience “Pumpkins and Popcorn” with a special screening of Scoob! at 11 o’clock. Tickets for the event include a wooden pumpkin, painting and decorating supplies, and a bag of popcorn snacks and candy. Limited tickets are available for purchase here.
Some places also have themed cocktails during the rest of October, including a pumpkin milkshake that can be made with or without alcohol.
BOO BASH ON THE LAWN IN HILL COUNTRY GALLERIA
Hill Country Galleria will be hosting a Halloween event on October 30 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the lawn at Central Plaza. Guests can enjoy children’s entertainer Joe McDermott, balloon performers, costumed characters, Halloween treat bags (while supplies last) and more.
Guests are encouraged to don their best costume to enter the virtual costume contest and win a special surprise. Kim Ortiz Photos will be having a dog fancy dress contest, so furry friends are welcome to join us as well.
DREAMLAND: PUMPKIN AND HALLOWEEN BASH PATCH
Discover the on-site pumpkin patch daily, where adults and children can purchase a pumpkin and get 50% off a round of mini-golf.
On October 30, Halloween Bash will feature a performance by the Hair Metal Giants group, as well as an all-ages costume contest, live face / body painting, pumpkin painting, and other surprises.
CHAPARRAL ICE CREAM AT THE CROSSROADS
Chaparral Ice, located at The Crossover, will host Thriller Chiller on Saturday, October 30 starting at 4 p.m. on your favorite Halloween treats. Young and old can also participate in a costume contest, with the winners receiving a family pack of 4 skating passes.
Guests can don a pair of ice skates during the public skating session 4:45 to 7:15 p.m. or join Late Skate from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. NA3HL, take on the Texas Road Runners at 7:30 p.m. Those who purchase a ticket to skate in public will receive $ 2 off their Austin Ice Bats tickets.
TIKI TIGER TO EASY TIGER EAST
Head to the Easy Tiger East patio located at 1501 E 7th Street and enjoy tropical drinks and food specials with a Halloween twist. Items include a Witch Doctors Brew, a Coconut Cauldron, and a Ghost Tiger Toastie.
Specials will be offered on October 31 from 4 p.m. to closing.

Head to East 11th Restaurant on Halloween weekend October 29-30 for a Goth Night menu. The menu is a sinister celebration of all that is dark and dreary, including Charcoal Beyond Goth Gyoza, Sacrificial Lamb Bao, Abattoir Blues Noodles, and enchanting limited-time cocktails.

2ND STREET DISTRICT
Bring your furry friend by Love, Tito is all dressed up in his Howl-o-ween costume for a fun surprise! Tito’s is offering free bandanas for disguised puppies on Saturday October 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Upstairs Circus is hosting a Spooky Season Special adding new designs and drinks to the menus this season. Their new Halloween drinks include their Circus Chata, Big Top Fizz, Sour Ringleader and The Flamin ‘Apple! TRACE at W Austin will feature witch-style liquid nitrogen cocktails for a photogenic and entertaining experience for friends. The main cocktail will feature a Brazilian spirit, known as Cran-Caipirinha.
LORRAINE BAKERY IN THE NORTH DOMAIN
From October 28 to 31, Boulangerie Lorraine will be offering a special Halloween menu.
The menu will include items such as a black cat pie made from chocolate mousse filled with vanilla, a mummy lemon pie made from lemon cream topped with meringue and two chocolate chips for the mummy eyes. , a voodoo doll gingerbread cookie made with gingerbread cookie dipped in rich dark chocolate, and more.
In the spirit of celebrating Halloween on October 31, the Texas family-owned salt and seasoning company, Twang, is offering a themed cocktail to enjoy at home using its Twang-A-Rita nectar.
The cocktail is aptly named Witch’s Brew and is made with 2 oz of cinnamon liqueur, 3/4 of pomegranate syrup, 3 oz of apple cider and topped with champagne for a single serving. If you want to celebrate with a larger group, their punch recipe consists of 16 ounces of cinnamon liqueur, 6 ounces of pomegranate syrup, 24 ounces of apple cider, and 1 750 ml bottle of champagne.
