Housing companies come together for new Blackburn development

Vistry Partnerships and Together Housing Group, who are currently building a 235-home residential development in Halton, will once again join forces for a 165-home development in Blackburn.

The pair traded at a Blackburn-owned site with Darwen Council and two private sellers, offered by Lea Hough Chartered Surveyors.

Sunny Bower’s new site in Whalley Old Road will offer two, three, four and five bedroom homes on the open market. They will become the northernmost homes sold by Vistry under its Bovis Homes brand.

Together Housing Group will manage the sale of the affordable housing units, which will be offered as condominiums.

Planning permission has already been obtained for the site, with a Request for Reserved Questions expected to be submitted later this summer. Construction work is expected to begin before the end of the year, with the entire building program expected to be completed by 2026.

Councilor Phil Riley, Chief of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said: “This is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when we work closely with landowners to deliver quality sites. We are incredibly proud to be a growing borough with an ambitious vision for the future and we are building a strong reputation as a place to do business.

“Locally, we have listened to feedback from residents and have included affordable housing in the proposals, bungalows and have also kept the walking routes we know are popular – also enhancing them with new seating areas. This is the ‘opportunity to deliver quality new homes in a popular part of town and I can’t wait to see the progress.’
