Odd-even program implemented in Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar market, curbing gatherings

New Delhi, December 25 (IANS) Amid the growing threat of Covid-19, a video of people crowding the Sarojini Nagar market in Delhi has gone viral, after which the market will now remain open on the odd diet basis on December 25-26. , officials said.

The New Delhi City Council (NDMC) also began a crackdown on encroachments on the upscale market on Saturday morning.

The property of all these traders with shops on land encroaching on the market was confiscated. Delhi police have also taken action in trying to control large gatherings.

NDMC and Civil Defense staff together make sure people strictly follow Covid protocols and make announcements asking people to follow Covid standards.

Previously, the NDMC had held a meeting with officials from the market offices after the Delhi High Court expressed concern over the increase in Covid-19 cases in the nation’s capital.

The court expressed its displeasure with people flouting Covid protocols and summoned the Sarojini Nagar police station officer. Expressing concern over large gatherings, the court said such a situation would result in the deaths of large numbers of people due to Covid-19.
