Only 300 people can participate in public gatherings from December 28: Udupi DC

Udupi, December 27: âAll gatherings, meetings and conferences, including weddings, etc. from Tuesday, December 28, should strictly limit the number of participants to only 300 people and appropriate Covid behavior will be strictly enforced during events. The responsibility for enforcing the same lies with the organizers, âsaid Deputy Commissioner (DC) M Kurma Rao.
Speaking to the media, he said: âIn accordance with state government guidelines, the nighttime curfew is imposed in the state from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. from December 28 to January 7, 2022.
âFrom December 30 to January 2, 2022, restaurants, hotels, clubs and pubs will operate with a 50% seating capacity while strictly adhering to appropriate Covid behavior. All staff members of these entities must have a negative RTPCR Covid report and must be fully vaccinated with two doses of the Covid vaccine.
âThere will be intensive patrolling and surveillance in all border districts adjoining the states of Maharashtra and Kerala to prevent the spread of Covid, particularly the Omicron variant, in the state.
âAnyone violating these measures will be liable to prosecution according to the law.
âThe district administration and the health service have taken all measures to control the Covid. The total positivity rate is 0.2% from last week and it looks balanced. Currently, there are 55 active cases in the district. We have carried out rigorous Covid tests, mainly in educational establishments in Manipal.
âAround 10,733 Covid tests have been carried out in the Manipal containment zone, of which 35 positive cases have been reported. The number of tests per day has increased. The district achieved 96.03% coverage at the first dose and 82.97% at the second dose. We are working on home visits to increase vaccination coverage. In accordance with central and state guidelines, booster doses will be administered to certain categories of people and vaccines will be administered to children aged 15 to 18, âhe said.
